Care for leopard geckos
A good way to show care for your leopard geckos, is to make them comfortable to their terrarium. Here are some good tips to to help your leopard gecko, and even you:
Make sure your terrarium does not have a rug floor. Leopard geckos love to dig and if it gets cold at night, they will want to dig a hole to stay warm. With a rug, none of those are possible.
2. If you notice that your leopard gecko is not coming out of their cave in the day, thats perfectly fine. Leopard geckos are crepuscular witch means that they are mainly active at the dawn and dusk.
3. Leopard geckos will turn gray when they are about to shed. This is perfectly normal behavior for them to turn gray before shedding, and might be a little stubborn when about to shed, and they want to be left alone. When I got my leopard gecko, he was very grumpy, but then we saw him getting gray and knew that he was just shedding. When shedding, make sure their skin is a little moist, it will help the shed come off and can prevent stuck shed.
4. Leopard geckos like to hunt live food. They like eating live crickets, but if you get them, make sure you put calcium powder on the crickets before you put them in the terrarium. This will help them to get strong bones. The crickets need to be small size or-else the large ones can hurt the geckos, so make sure they are small size.
5. Obviously, holding your leopard gecko can be lots of fun, but make sure your gecko is ready. I'd say that you should wait two week before you hold them, but if you ever try to pick them up and the gecko makes a noise that sounds like a scream, then that means that your gecko is not ready or is pressured. When you get to hold them, try to have them go on your hands, and your hands need to be about two inches above a counter. This so if they ever start to go fast and run of you hand, then it would not hurt them.
6. Cleaning leopard gecko poop is probably the worst part about them, but, what if I told you there is a way to not have to. You probability wouldn't believe me. But it is true. Springtails will eat leopard gecko poop and make your life easier. Make sure you have these amazing insect.
